The LSU Tigers are making significant waves in the transfer portal, bolstering their roster with standout players from across the college football landscape. One of the most talked-about additions is Michael Van Buren, a dynamic quarterback transferring from Mississippi State.
Van Buren, originally from St. Frances Academy (Bowie, MD), showcased his talent as a true freshman in 2024, throwing for 1,886 yards and accounting for 16 touchdowns in just nine games. Standing at 5’11.5″ and weighing 180 pounds, Van Buren brings agility, precision, and leadership to LSU’s quarterback room as they look to solidify their offense for the upcoming season.
Adding to LSU’s defensive firepower is Jimari Butler, a seasoned edge rusher from Nebraska. Butler, a 6’5″, 260-pound athlete from Murphy High School (Mobile, AL), brings a wealth of experience, having appeared in 37 games for the Cornhuskers. His resume includes 65 career tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks.
LSU is betting on Butler’s ability to disrupt opposing offenses and mentor younger players in the program. Another marquee addition is Barion Brown, a former Kentucky Wildcats wide receiver known for his exceptional speed and athleticism. Brown’s 122 career receptions for 1,528 yards and 11 touchdowns make him a game-changing weapon in LSU’s receiving corps.
LSU also bolstered its secondary with the addition of Ja’Keem Jackson, a versatile cornerback from Florida. Jackson, standing 6’0.5″ and weighing 180 pounds, has proven himself as a reliable defender. In two seasons with the Gators, he recorded 11 tackles and four pass breakups.
With the Tigers’ emphasis on improving their pass defense, Jackson is expected to play a pivotal role. On offense, tight end Bauer Sharp from Oklahoma joins the team, adding size and production. The 6’5″, 245-pound Sharp led the Sooners in receptions and yards during the 2024 season, showcasing his ability to dominate in both blocking and receiving roles.
