Ohio St CB Jyaire Brown commits to LSU
LSU’s football program has made a significant addition to its roster by securing a commitment from Ohio State transfer cornerback Jyaire Brown. This move is seen as a crucial enhancement for the Tigers, especially considering the challenges they faced in the cornerback position during the 2023 season. Brown’s commitment marks the third consecutive year that Brian Kelly and LSU have successfully recruited a Transfer Portal cornerback from Ohio State, highlighting a consistent strategy in bolstering their defensive backfield.

Brown, who has roots in Ohio but spent part of his high school years in New Orleans, is no stranger to LSU’s interest. His impressive performance at Ohio State, where he ranked second in reception percentage (38.5%) among all Big Ten cornerbacks with at least 100 defensive snaps in 2022, makes him a valuable addition to the Tigers. During his time with the Buckeyes, Brown was targeted 13 times, giving up just five catches for 61 yards, and impressively, he was penalized only once and did not concede a touchdown pass.
LSU’s head coach Brian Kelly is making decisive moves for the Tigers, eyeing Missouri defensive coordinator Blake Baker as a potential game-changer for the team’s defensive strategy. After a recent shake-up in the defensive staff, Baker has emerged as the prime candidate for the top defensive spot. Known for his commendable tenure as Miami’s play-caller and his impactful two seasons at Missouri, Baker is now a top target for LSU. His career achievements and strategic prowess, recognized by Missouri with contract extensions and a lucrative deal, underscore his value in the college football realm. As LSU vies for his commitment, Baker’s decision will significantly influence the team’s defensive dynamics.
Recruitment Triumphs: Securing Top Talents
In a major recruitment win, LSU has secured a commitment from four-star running back Harlem Berry, a significant addition from the 2025 cycle. Berry’s commitment, choosing LSU over notable competitors, has propelled the Tigers into the top five of the 247Sports class rankings. This strategic addition underscores Brian Kelly’s vision to bolster the team with top-notch talents. As other star players join Berry in the commitment to LSU, the team’s future looks increasingly promising with a blend of skill and strategy.

Major Burns: A Seasoned Defender’s Return
Adding to the series of positive updates, Major Burns has announced his return for another season. With a career marked by significant contributions and evolving prowess, Burns’s decision to play for the 2024 season brings experience and skill to the team’s defense. Despite previous injuries, his impressive performance in the 2023 season highlights his resilience and commitment. As Burns prepares to further his legacy at LSU, his presence is a morale booster for the team and fans alike.
