LSU‘s football program has achieved a major coup in the recruiting world by securing a commitment from Bryce Underwood, the top quarterback prospect for the 2025 cycle, as ranked by 247Sports. This five-star player from Belleville High School in Michigan announced his decision to join coach Brian Kelly’s team in a ceremony at his school, marking a significant win for LSU.

Underwood, who praised the LSU coaching staff and the program’s rich history, has been a highly sought-after recruit, receiving offers from over 40 prestigious programs including Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas, and even Colorado. His choice to join LSU, after three unofficial visits to Baton Rouge, underscores the program’s continued allure and competitive edge in national recruiting.

Underwood’s high school career has been nothing short of remarkable. With a stellar record of 40-2 as the starting quarterback for Belleville, he has already etched his name in the annals of Michigan high school football. His junior season was particularly outstanding, where he threw for 3,405 yards and 42 touchdowns with only three interceptions, earning him the title of 2023 Michigan High School Football Player of the Year.

His leadership on the field was instrumental in Belleville securing back-to-back state championships in 2021 and 2022, contributing to a remarkable 38-game winning streak that ended in 2023. Additionally, his accolades include being named MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year in 2022, further highlighting his extraordinary talent and potential.

The addition of Underwood to LSU’s roster is a significant moment for the program, with many already labeling him as a potential “generational talent”. 247Sports’ national recruiting analyst Allen Trieu describes Underwood as physically advanced for his age, possessing a strong arm capable of making challenging throws across the field, and demonstrating exceptional ball security and decisiveness.

Furthermore, Underwood’s athletic abilities extend beyond the quarterback position, with skills that could have made him a high-level defensive recruit. His commitment to LSU, alongside wide receiver Dakorien Moore, the No. 5 overall prospect for 2025 from Duncanville High School in Texas, signals a bright future for the Tigers, as they continue to build a team capable of competing at the highest levels of college football.
