In a stellar display of offensive domination, the No. 19 LSU Tigers, led by their Heisman hopeful QB Jayden Daniels, delivered a decisive 62-0 victory over the Army Black Knights on Saturday night. Making this win all the more historic was the fact that it was only the second encounter between the two schools, with their previous clash dating back to 1920.
From the get-go, LSU exhibited their dominance, with Daniels making his mark through a breathtaking 86-yard touchdown pass to Brian Thomas, Jr. — the third-longest in LSU’s records. The game also highlighted Daniels’ impressive stats, proving his strong contention for the coveted Heisman Trophy.
However, the evening wasn’t just about LSU’s offensive brilliance. Their defense, too, played a significant role in ensuring the shutout. Army’s freshman quarterback, Champ Harris, who was taking his maiden start, faced intense pressure and was intercepted twice in the game.
One of these interceptions, made by Andre’ Sam, quickly turned into another scoring opportunity for LSU, with Daniels finding Thomas for an 8-yard touchdown. The Tigers capitalized on Army’s errors, leading to a staggering 38-0 advantage by halftime. With this comprehensive victory and the team’s subsequent challenge against Alabama on Nov. 4, the LSU Tigers are undoubtedly a team to watch this season.
