No. 19 LSU, with a commendable 5-2 record, is set to host Army this Saturday in what promises to be a compelling match-up. Fresh from clinching impressive victories against SEC adversaries Missouri and Auburn, the Tigers are buoyed by their recent performances. While a hiccup against Ole Miss did set them back, their aspirations for the SEC West title are still well within reach.
A game against Army seems to be an ideal opportunity for LSU to maintain its momentum, especially considering the Black Knights’ recent struggles. Army, standing at a 2-4 record, is enduring a challenging season. Their recent 19-0 defeat to Troy is a testament to their struggles, and their solitary win against FBS teams suggests they are the underdogs in this contest.
However, LSU would be wise to not underestimate Army, particularly with the Black Knights’ tenacious defense, which has kept all their opponents to under 30 points this season. Army Head Coach Jeff Monken’s has shown resilience, even against power conference teams, showcasing their defensive mettle by conceding an average of only 28 points in such encounters.
LSU, on the other hand, boasts an offensive juggernaut, leading the SEC with an average of 550.4 yards per game and coming second in passing with 335.9 yards per contest. The Tigers’ track record also bodes well, having not lost to a non-power conference team since their upset against Troy during former coach Ed Orgeron‘s tenure. All things considered, while Army’s defense will provide a stern test, the prediction leans heavily in favor of LSU claiming a substantial victory.
