Major update emerges in Rashee Rice disciplinary hearing, alters timeline on possible suspension

On July 17, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver  Rashee Rice  was sentenced to five years of probation and 30 days of jail time for his role in a multi-car crash in Dallas during the 2024 offseason. Rice will likely serve a multi-game suspension, but news broke on Thursday that it wouldn’t be at the beginning of the 2025 season.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Thursday morning that Rice is expected to have his disciplinary hearing with the NFL on Tuesday, Sept. 30, in New York. This would mean that the Chiefs wide receiver will likely now be able to play the first four weeks of this season before any potential discipline is imposed for the incident.

A Dallas County judge sentenced Rice, who can serve his jail sentence during the five-year probation. The crash happened on March 30, 2024, when Rice, who was driving a Lamborghini, was racing Theodore Knox, who was driving a Corvette. Rice reportedly told police he lost control of his vehicle, which caused a crash involving six cars.
