Ben Danford had been a heart and soul player for the Oshawa Generals over the last few seasons, playing a responsible, hard-nosed game while serving as the club’s captain in 2024-25 into the beginning of the 2025-26 season. He helped lead the Generals to back-to-back OHL finals, ultimately coming up short against Easton Cowan and the London Knights both times, but nothing lasts forever in the cyclical world of junior hockey. Oshawa has struggled out of the gate this season, and with an obvious need to reset and retool, Danford was dealt to the Brantford Bulldogs this past week. The deal saw Danford and fellow bruising blueliner Zackary Sandhu joining the Bulldogs in exchange for forward Aidan O’Donnell, defencemen Lucas Moore and Luca Diplacido, along with nine draft picks.
