As one legend calls it a career after the 2025 World Series (the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw), another plans to keep chugging along in 2026. Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Max Scherzer was on the wrong side of a thrilling Game 7, which the Dodgers won to repeat as World Series champions. But his 4.1 innings of one-run baseball in Saturday’s winner-take-all contest were far from the reason his team lost. In fact, the 41-year-old pitched admirably throughout the Blue Jays’ October run, finishing the postseason with a 3.77 ERA in three starts. That was certainly an improvement over his regular-season ERA of 5.19 in 17 total starts, the latter figures casting doubt over his future viability in MLB.
