Troy Aikman is being hired by the Miami Dolphins to consult with them. The Dolphins fired longtime general manager Chris Grier on Halloween and are looking for a replacement. They wanted to seek the advice of someone who has experience and connections throughout the league, and they hired Aikman to advise them — which makes sense. Aikman is the second prominent current NFL announcer who will now be working with a team. Tom Brady, who is an analyst with Fox, is a part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders and has helped their front office. His relationship with the team has led to ethical questions about his position on the air. Unlike Brady, who has a full, year-round commitment to the Raiders, Aikman’s job with the Dolphins will last only through the team’s GM search.
