Cowboys owner Jerry Jones didn’t have much to say about the ongoing contract negotiations with edge rusher Micah Parsons . Jones appeared on 105.3 the FAN in Dallas ahead of Saturday’s preseason opener against the Los Angeles Rams, where was asked whether he had any update.

“Glad to see he’s working out and in shape and feels great,” Jones replied. “All of that is good. I don’t have anything to comment on.”

Parsons requested a trade from the team on Aug. 1, making a lengthy post on Twitter. However, team ownership has since been adamant that it has no intentions of trading its star defender.

Parsons missed the Cowboys practice on Thursday, but returned to the field for team walkthroughs on Friday. Still, no signs of a deal being reached have emerged in a week since his trade request.

Parsons, 26, is entering the final year of his rookie deal. The two-time All-Pro pass rusher revealed that he initially approached the Cowboys about a contract extension after the 2023 season but the team “did not want to start any negotiations at that point.”

The edge rusher has been a key part of the Cowboys defense over the past four seasons after winning Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2021. This past season he recorded 43 total tackles, 12 sacks, two forced fumbles and one pass defended across 13 games.
