Micah Parsons trade request: Report reveals whether Cowboys star will leave training camp, pay fines

On Friday, Dallas Cowboys EDGE Micah Parsons publicly requested a trade from the Dallas Cowboys. However, he reportedly doesn’t plan on skipping the team’s training camp.

“Despite his public ridicule of the #Cowboys organization and his trade request to the Dallas front office, I’m told [Micah Parsons] has no intention of leaving training camp and incurring $50K in daily fines as mandated by the NFL,” WFAA reporter Ed Werder wrote on X.

Other stars around the league have taken the financial blow to get their point across. Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin was fined $200k total for missing four practices. Likewise, Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson held out during the first week of the Bengals’ training camp before finally reporting on Wednesday.

Evidently, Parsons doesn’t plan on suffering similar financial losses. After all, he wants out of Dallas to make more money. Parsons is entering the fifth-year option of his rookie deal as a defensive end. He will earn $21.34 million this year.

As early as 2023, Parsons reached out to the Cowboys to discuss a contract extension. However, the two parties haven’t made any substantial progress in contract talks. The Cowboys could continue to use their franchise tag on Parsons and retain his rights until 2028.
