MLB insider says Eugenio Suarez ‘fits’ this NL Central team

Eugenio Suarez is in the midst of a fantastic season for the Arizona Diamondbacks. The veteran third baseman is fresh off his second career trip to the MLB All-Star Game, as he currently is tied for second in the NL in home runs (31) and is second overall in RBI (78). The Chicago Cubs, likewise, are having a tremendous season at 58-39. The only obvious hole in an otherwise loaded Chicago lineup is at the hot corner, where the club has gotten pretty much league-low production to this point.  Rookie Matt Shaw has seen the majority of the time at third base for the Cubs. The first-round pick from 2023 has played solid defense and swiped 12 bases over 64 games, but his bat has simply not looked ready to square off against big-league pitching on a regular basis.  Shaw is hitting right at .200 with a meager .558 OPS and only two homers through 235 plate appearances.
