The thoughts and prayers of the football world have been with Detroit Lions defensive back Morice Norris . His injury forced the suspension of his team’s preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons on Friday.

It occurred in the fourth quarter when Norris attempted to tackle Atlanta running back  Nathan Carter . His helmet connected with Carter’s knee, and his body immediately went stiff.

The defender’s legs began to spasm shortly after the collision. Eventually, he was put onto a stretcher and taken to the hospital. The Lions and Falcons decided to suspend the rest of the game.

Norris was released from the hospital on Saturday, and was later at the team’s training facility with teammates on Sunday. Now, he’s vowing to return to the field sooner rather than later.

“God is truly amazing,” Norris posted on Instagram. “Starting this journey I put my complete faith in him walked the path he has already pre set for me without fear. I will forever be grateful for the trials and obstacles he places in front of me because I know I have nothing to fear.

“I wanna thank everyone for the prayers and both organizations for how they helped me and my family as well. I’m just a kid who wants to play ball and you all will see me playing again real soon so have no fear. God is with me proud to be a ball player proud to be a Lion let’s keep the show going. This is only the beginning gonna be LEGENDARY.”

That’s an incredible message from Norris. It’s easy to see why he’s become a source of inspiration for his Lions teammates, as well as many in the NFL. His return to the field will be a welcomed sight, whenever it comes true.
