New Orleans Saints Make Waves with Roster Decisions: WR Perry, DB Johnson, and G Saldiveri Impacted

by Niles Carpenter/Saints Contributor

The New Orleans Saints have recently announced a series of placement decisions involving several players. WR Shaquan Davis, RB Kendre Miller, and WR A.T. Perry have been placed on Non-Football Injury, while DB Anthony Johnson and G Nick Saldiveri have been designated as Physically Unable to Perform. These announcements were made by Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager, Mickey Loomis.

Kendre Miller, standing at 6-0 and weighing 220 pounds, was the Saints’ third-round pick from TCU. During his time at the university, Miller showcased his talent as a three-year letterman, accumulating an impressive 2,410 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns in just 33 games with 17 starts. A.T. Perry, a 6-5 receiver out of Wake Forest, was the Saints’ final draft selection in the sixth round. Perry holds several receiving records at Wake Forest, including an impressive program record of 28 touchdowns, which places him tied for seventh in ACC history.

Anthony Johnson, a 6-2, 205-pound defensive back, joined the Saints as a rookie free agent this offseason. Throughout his college career at Virginia and Louisville, the Hollywood, Fla. native participated in 55 games, starting in 27 of them. He recorded notable stats of 138 tackles, seven interceptions, three forced fumbles, and 38 passes defensed. Additionally, 6-6, 316-pound offensive lineman Nick Saldiveri, hailing from Monroe, N.C., was the Saints’ first of two fourth-round picks and the first player ever selected from Old Dominion by the team.

With 35 starts in his collegiate career, Saldiveri made history at ODU as the only offensive lineman to score a touchdown, recovering a fumble in a crucial victory over Charlotte in 2021. In 2022, he earned second-team All-Sun Belt honors, starting ten games at right tackle and one at right guard.

The placement of these players will undoubtedly impact the Saints’ roster and create opportunities for other individuals to step up and contribute. As the team prepares for the upcoming season, the management and coaching staff will closely monitor the progress of these players and provide them with the necessary support and rehabilitation to ensure their successful return to the field.
