New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Week 4 Injury Report

New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Week 4 Injury Report

by Noonie Jenkins Saints Contributor

The New Orleans Saints are gearing up for a crucial Week 4 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the injury report has raised some concerns.

Derek Carr’s Status Remains Uncertain

One of the most significant concerns for the Saints is the status of their star quarterback, Derek Carr. Carr suffered an AC strain during their previous game against the Green Bay Packers and has been listed as questionable for the Week 4 clash against the Buccaneers. However, there’s a glimmer of hope as reports from Friday’s practice suggest that Carr was spotted throwing passes. This development leaves room for optimism that he might make a return, although nothing is certain at this point.

If Carr isn’t cleared to play, backup quarterback Jameis Winston will get the starting nod. Winston, who previously played for the Buccaneers, expressed his readiness for the opportunity, stating, “I’m prepared. I’m grateful for this opportunity. I know this is Tampa and they drafted me, but at the same time, this is a division opponent, and we have to be ready.” It’s a chance for Winston to showcase his skills against his former team.

Protecting the Quarterback

One of the Saints’ glaring issues this season has been their offensive line’s inability to protect the quarterback adequately. Allowing 12 sacks in just three games is well below their capabilities, and it’s an area of concern that the team needs to address urgently. Whether it’s Carr or Winston under center, the Saints must find a way to keep their quarterback upright against a fierce Buccaneers defense.

Kamara’s Return

In some positive news for the Saints, star running back Alvin Kamara is set to return from suspension, which should provide a significant boost to the offensive unit. Kamara’s dynamic playmaking ability and versatility are essential components of the Saints’ offensive strategy, and his presence will undoubtedly be welcomed as they face a tough divisional opponent in the Buccaneers.
