New York Mets reportedly eyeing significant free-agent move

The New York Mets’ offseason has been defined by the players who left the organization rather than any additions. That may be about to change. Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported that the Mets have “checked in” on free agent outfielder Kyle Tucker. The Mets have been linked to Tucker throughout the offseason as they look to fortify their lineup. Tucker would be a significant upgrade. A four-time All-Star, he produced a .266/.377/.464 batting line over 597 plate appearances with the Cubs in 2025, hitting 22 homers and 25 doubles while stealing 25 bases. Tucker would give the Mets a formidable trio in the lineup with shortstop Francisco Lindor and outfielder Juan Soto, but could provide more value than what he can do offensively.
