The contract dispute between star defender Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys has become the saga of the NFL offseason. Now, it appears that there could soon be a resolution. It’s just a question about what that resolution could be.
NFL insider Dan Graziano appeared on Get Up Thursday morning. There, he shared that, with Dallas opening its 2025 season in a week against the defending Super Bowl champions and a divisional rival, the Philadelphia Eagles, it appears a resolution to the Parsons situation is coming.
“I feel like there’s been a little bit of a turn in the story,” Dan Graziano said. “To the point, where based on conversations that we were having yesterday and last night, a resolution feels like it might be pretty close. Now, what that resolution is, I think, is still up in the air.”
There are a few different potential resolutions, even if Graziano doesn’t know which one it’s going to be just yet. That includes resolutions that lead to a reconciliation of sorts with Dallas. There is potential for him to sign a new deal, as others have signed late-offseason extensions in the past with the Cowboys. He could also play without a deal or continue to sit, as well, though.
“It could be a deal between him and the Cowboys, a long-term deal,” Graziano said. “Sounds a little unlikely considering how little work has been done on that recently. It could be that he decides to show up and play. Play on the fifth year option and dare them to franchise him next year, which I think they would. It could be that he continues to sit out and say his back hurts. He went and got a second opinion on, preparing for that sort of argument.”
