NFL Proposes Opt-Out For Players Because Of Covid-19 Concerns

New Orleans,LA – The NFL is proposing an opt out for players in the 2020 season according to reports. The Opt out comes with written notice that must be submitted prior to August the 1st of this year. The measure is similar to what the NBA and other leagues are offering it’s player base.

New Orleans Saints Safety Malcolm Jenkins said to CNN earlier on that, he “doesn’t feel safe and that football is non essential“. NFL players like Jenkins would perhaps considering sitting out the season because of the pandemic. The opt out clause could cause some player shifts and movements on teams throughout the league.

For instance, lets say Malcolm Jenkins opt outs and decides to sit down the upcoming year. The move would force the black and gold to find a suitor to to replace Jenkins. The former Eagle safety is viewed as a starter for the Saints at the safety position this upcoming season.

The Saints would have to look at the depth chart or to the free agency for a replacement. This is merely a proposal that would be submitted to the NFLPA but one doesn’t see why it wouldn’t be agreed upon.
