NFL releases statement on Tom Brady in Las Vegas Raiders coaches' booth

The NFL released a statement regarding Tom Brady sitting in the coaches box Monday night during the Las Vegas Raiders’ loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Brady was seen on the ESPN broadcast watching the game with a headset on and Peter Schrager reported Brady regularly talks with OC Chip Kelly and “go through the game plan” together.

While Brady is limited as a broadcaster in terms of pregame meetings for production and attending other team facilities, he is not prohibited from being in the coaches’ box. Brady has a stake of ownership in the Raiders, putting that policy into place while he is a broadcaster for FOX.

NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy released a statement on behalf of the league. Brady was simply doing what was allowed under the league’s and owner’s rules.
