San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa reportedly suffered a torn ACL Sunday vs. the Arizona Cardinals and is out for the season. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported it was a clear tear, but he will require season-ending surgery as the 49ers improved to 3-0.
The injury occurred with 51 seconds remaining in the first quarter. It was later announced that Bosa had a knee injury and was out for the remainder of the game.
A five-time Pro Bowler, Bosa is one of the key pieces for the 49ers defense. He has recorded 17 tackles, including 2.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery on the young season.
The San Francisco defense still managed to hold down the fort in his absence on Sunday, earning a 16-15 victory. That improved them to 3-0 this year and the concern now lies with Bosa, whose name is added to a growing number of injuries for the team.
