The Green Bay Packers received a nice Christmas gift on Thursday from an NFC North rival.
The Packers clinched a spot in the NFC playoffs following the Lions’ 23-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, which also eliminated Detroit from postseason contention.
Green Bay, set to host the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday night, returns to the postseason for a third consecutive season and a sixth time in seven seasons under head coach Matt LaFleur.

The Packers are still in contention for an NFC North title, but one win over the next two weeks by the Bears or one loss by Green Bay gives the division and a home playoff game to Chicago.
Thursday’s loss caps a disappointing season for Dan Campbell’s Lions, who fall to to 8-8 and will miss the playoffs after back-to-back division titles.
