Pelicans Edge Hornets 112-107 on the road

by Rell Wright/Pelican Contributor

The New Orleans Pelicans narrowly defeated the Charlotte Hornets 112-107, marking their third consecutive victory. Center Jonas Valanciunas was the standout performer for the Pelicans, recording a season-high 29 points along with 13 rebounds.

His dominant presence under the basket was a key factor in the Pelicans’ ability to maintain control against the Hornets, who were playing without some of their key players. Zion Williamson, returning to the lineup after missing the previous game, made a significant impact with 21 points and 11 rebounds. His energy and athleticism provided a much-needed boost for New Orleans, especially in critical moments of the game.

The Hornets, despite a valiant effort, couldn’t overcome the Pelicans’ late-game surge. Terry Rozier led the charge for Charlotte with an impressive 30 points, while Miles Bridges contributed 27 points and 10 rebounds. Their performances, however, were overshadowed in the fourth quarter by C.J. McCollum’s heroics for the Pelicans. McCollum, who struggled in the first half, erupted for 13 of his 19 points in the final quarter, including crucial three-pointers that extended the Pelicans’ lead.

His ability to step up in clutch moments proved invaluable, turning the tide in favor of New Orleans. The Pelicans now look ahead to their next challenge as they prepare to face the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday, riding the momentum of their recent successes.
