Pelicans Fall Short Against Nets 119-114, now are 21-58

by Rell Wright Pelicans Contributor

The New Orleans Pelicans battled valiantly but fell to the Brooklyn Nets 119-114, marking their fourth consecutive road loss and bringing their record to 21-58. Despite facing a season riddled with injuries to key players, including Zion Williamson, the Pelicans showed flashes of resilience in a tightly contested matchup.

Trendon Watford’s 22-point performance for Brooklyn proved pivotal, complemented by Drew Timme’s impactful 16 points and nine rebounds off the bench. The Pelicans rallied late in the game, with Antonio Reeves scoring eight points in a crucial stretch, including a reverse layup and a clutch three-pointer.

However, Tosan Evbuomwan’s dagger three with 35 seconds left sealed the win for Brooklyn, snapping the Nets’ five-game home losing streak.

New Orleans showcased depth and determination with contributions from Reeves, who tallied 17 points, alongside Karlo Matkovic’s 17 and Jose Alvarado’s 16. Still, the Pelicans struggled to contain the Nets in a pivotal third quarter, allowing 43 points—the most Brooklyn has scored in any quarter this season.

As the Pelicans navigate the final games of a challenging season, they continue to rely on young talent and bench contributions to stay competitive. With a road-heavy schedule and a depleted roster, New Orleans is focused on development and finishing strong.

Up next, the Pelicans face a tough test in Milwaukee, hoping to find positives as they rebuild for the future.
