Pelicans fall to Jazz Again 114-112

by Rell Wright/Pelican Contributor

The Utah Jazz secured a hard-fought victory over the New Orleans Pelicans, edging them out with a final score of 114-112. This win marked the Jazz’s fifth consecutive triumph over the Pelicans and their second victory in just three days. The key to Utah’s success lay in their exceptional three-point shooting, with the team sinking a total of 17 treys, including six crucial ones during a tense fourth quarter. Despite the Pelicans’ valiant effort, it was not enough to overcome the relentless offensive barrage from the Jazz.

Zion Williamson, who made a remarkable return to action, led the Pelicans’ charge with an impressive 26-point performance, accompanied by seven assists. Brandon Ingram contributed 25 points to the effort, while Jonas Valanciunas added a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds. The Pelicans showed their resilience by taking their first lead in the third quarter, igniting hopes of a comeback. However, the Jazz, guided by Jordan Clarkson‘s 16 points and 10 assists, managed to hold on to their lead until the final buzzer. With this win in the books, the Jazz now look ahead to their next challenge, while the Pelicans aim to bounce back as they prepare to host the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday.
