Pelicans falls flat 104-92 to battle tested Celtics

by Rell Wright/Pelican Contributor

In a riveting clash at New Orleans, the Boston Celtics, led by Jayson Tatum‘s 23 points, surged past the New Orleans Pelicans with a 104-92 victory. The Celtics, boasting the NBA’s best record at 58-16, showed resilience by bouncing back from consecutive defeats against Atlanta and avoiding their first three-game losing streak of the season. Kristaps Porzingis and Jaylen Brown contributed significantly, with Porzingis adding a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Brown chipped in with 17 points.

Despite a close first half, the Celtics dominated the third quarter, restricting the Pelicans to a mere 11 points and extending their lead with a decisive 3-pointer from Tatum. The Pelicans, despite Zion Williamson‘s valiant effort of 25 points, faltered significantly, especially in the third quarter where their shooting went cold. The Celtics’ strategic defense and timely scoring shifts underscored their status as league leaders, leaving the Pelicans to regroup and aim for a rebound in their upcoming home game against Phoenix.
