Pelicans Lose Again to Bucks 136-111, Still in Lottery Hunt
By Rell Wright, Pelicans Contributor
The New Orleans Pelicans fell to the Milwaukee Bucks 136-111 on Thursday night, extending their losing streak to five games. Despite a gritty effort, the Pelicans’ thin roster of just eight available players was no match for Milwaukee‘s depth and firepower. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with a dominant 28-point, 11-rebound performance, showcasing why Milwaukee remains one of the league’s elite teams.
While Lester Quinones led the Pelicans with an impressive 21 points, the team struggled to keep up during critical stretches. New Orleans’ resilience kept the game competitive into the third quarter, but a decisive 9-1 Bucks run, sparked by Gary Trent Jr., widened the gap and effectively sealed the game.
This loss, though disappointing, keeps the Pelicans firmly in the race for lottery positioning—a bittersweet silver lining in an otherwise turbulent season. With a staggering 11 players listed as out on the injury report, the Pelicans’ ability to compete at all speaks to their grit and determination.
The team will need to rally quickly as they prepare to host the Miami Heat on Friday, an opportunity to end the skid and give the home crowd something to cheer about. Meanwhile, Milwaukee moves on to a pivotal two-game series against Detroit, solidifying their playoff seeding. For the Pelicans, the focus now shifts to development, pride, and securing favorable odds in the upcoming NBA Draft lottery.
