Pelicans Outshine Timberwolves in Hard-Fought 119-115 Victory

by Rell Wright Pelicans Contributor

The New Orleans Pelicans delivered an inspiring performance Wednesday night, defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves 119-115 in Minneapolis. Zion Williamson led the charge with a stellar 29-point outing, supported by CJ McCollum‘s 18 points.

Despite entering the matchup as underdogs with only six road wins all season, the Pelicans showcased resilience and determination against a Timberwolves squad vying for playoff positioning. A pivotal 14-0 run in the second quarter turned a 43-32 deficit into a 46-43 lead, setting the tone for a tightly contested battle.

New Orleans held its composure down the stretch, with Williamson’s clutch layup in the final seconds securing the win and silencing the Target Center crowd.

This victory was particularly meaningful for the Pelicans, who were playing their first game without forward Trey Murphy III after a season-ending shoulder injury. The team rallied around Williamson’s offensive dominance and balanced contributions from six players scoring in double figures.

Against one of the NBA’s more formidable defenses, New Orleans executed efficiently and outperformed Minnesota in key moments, including crucial rebounding late in the game.
