Pelicans Routed by OKC 106-88, N.O. on Six-Game Slide

By Rell Wright, Pelicans Contributor

The New Orleans Pelicans fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder 106-88 on Wednesday night, extending their losing streak to six games. Despite a strong rebounding effort that saw New Orleans dominate the glass 58-31, the Pelicans were undone by 24 costly turnovers and poor shooting. Brandon Ingram led the Pelicans with 18 points, while Trey Murphy added 14.

Rookie Yves Missi contributed a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, but the short-handed squad was unable to match Oklahoma City’s firepower. Missing key players like Zion Williamson, CJ McCollum, and Jose Alvarado, the Pelicans struggled to maintain offensive consistency and were outscored 16-0 during a decisive Thunder run in the third quarter.

Oklahoma City capitalized on New Orleans’ miscues with stellar performances from Jalen Williams and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who combined for 60 points. Williams shot 10-for-18 from the field, including 4-for-7 from beyond the arc, while Gilgeous-Alexander added 29 points on 12-for-25 shooting.

The Thunder overcame the absence of rising star Chet Holmgren by committing just seven turnovers and spreading the floor with a guard-heavy lineup. The loss leaves the Pelicans searching for answers as they prepare to host the Denver Nuggets on Friday, while Oklahoma City looks to build on their momentum against the Phoenix Suns.
