New Orleans Pelicans fans have reason to rejoice as the promising forward Trey Murphy III is set to make his highly anticipated season debut against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday. The 23-year-old had been sidelined since September due to surgery on his left knee’s meniscus, leaving fans eagerly awaiting his return to the court.
Murphy had a standout rookie season, averaging an impressive 14.5 points per game, displaying his sharpshooting skills with a 40.6% 3-point shooting rate, and showcasing his reliability at the free-throw line with an impressive 90.5% success rate. His return is expected to inject a fresh dose of energy and scoring abilities into the Pelicans’ lineup, and fans can’t wait to see him in action once again.
Pelicans say today that Larry Nance Jr. re-aggravated his right rib fracture and is expected to miss approximately 4-6 weeks.

However, as the Pelicans prepare to welcome Murphy back, they also face the unfortunate news of forward Larry Nance Jr. being sidelined due to a reaggravated right rib fracture. The team announced that Nance is projected to miss four to six weeks, adding to the challenges of an injury-riddled season. Nance had previously battled an ankle injury during the preseason but made a valiant return to the court on November 22.
In his 14 appearances this season, he has contributed 3.5 points and 4.1 rebounds per game in just over 15 minutes on average. The Pelicans will undoubtedly miss Nance’s versatility and defensive presence during his absence, but they will look forward to his return as they navigate through this challenging stretch of the season.
As Trey Murphy III prepares to don the Pelicans’ jersey once more, and Larry Nance Jr. faces a temporary setback, New Orleans fans will continue to rally behind their team, hoping for a swift recovery for Nance and a triumphant return to form for Murphy.
