The New Orleans Pelicans have taken an intriguing step by signing UAB center Trey Jemison to an Exhibit 10 contract, as reported by Jon Chepkevich of DraftExpress.com. Standing at an imposing 6 feet 11 inches, Jemison recently showcased his skills in the Las Vegas Summer League while playing with the Suns.
His contributions on the court were notable, averaging 8.0 points and 6.8 rebounds in just over 23 minutes across five games.
While initial speculation hinted at a potential two-way deal with the Phoenix Suns for Jemison, his decision to accept the Exhibit 10 contract with the Pelicans indicates a different direction.
This choice suggests that the Suns may not have been prepared to offer a two-way contract at this juncture, leaving room for future possibilities. Despite this move, the door remains open for Jemison’s potential involvement with the Suns down the line.
Jemison’s signing aligns with the Pelicans’ ongoing efforts to bolster their roster, which also includes other reportedly agreed-upon Exhibit 10 deals with players like Landers Nolley II, Liam Robbins, and Tevian Jones.
Although these agreements are yet to be officially confirmed, they contribute to the Pelicans’ strategy in filling their roster. With two-way contract opportunities still available, the Pelicans are actively shaping their team for the upcoming season, with one slot already claimed by Dereon Seabron.
