The New Orleans Pelicans roared back into the winner’s column Friday night with a thrilling 125-118 triumph over the Indiana Pacers, snapping a tough three-game losing streak. Fueled by a standout performance from Zion Williamson, who posted an impressive 34 points and 10 assists, the Pelicans demonstrated resilience and cohesion when it mattered most. Brandon Ingram added to the offensive surge with 26 points, asserting himself as a crucial closer in a high-energy contest.
Young guard Jordan Hawkins delivered a career-boosting 23 points, while reserve Brandon Boston Jr. chipped in with 14 points off the bench, showcasing the depth that carried New Orleans past a gritty Indiana squad. Defensive plays and energy off the bench, especially from Jose Alvarado with 12 points and rookie Yves Missi’s dominant rebounding effort, sealed the Pelicans’ fate as victors in a charged fourth quarter.
Despite trailing by 13 in the first half, the Pelicans’ relentless pursuit paid dividends as Indiana’s momentum waned due to key injuries. Ben Sheppard’s 20-point performance, including six made 3-pointers, wasn’t enough for the Pacers, who saw Aaron Nesmith exit with an ankle sprain and Isaiah Jackson suffer a late-game leg injury. A pivotal moment came when Pascal Siakam’s offensive foul overturned a fast-break opportunity and drew a technical foul on Indiana’s coach Rick Carlisle.
Ingram capitalized by converting the free throw and sinking a jumper, pushing the Pelicans’ lead to 109-105 with under five minutes remaining. New Orleans’ hustle was evident, turning 14 turnovers into 21 points and outmuscling Indiana on the boards to generate 14 second-chance points. This much-needed win sets the Pelicans up with confidence as they prepare to host Atlanta on Sunday night.
