Pelicans Struggle Against Magic in Tough 113-93 Loss

By Rell Wright, Pelicans Contributor

The New Orleans Pelicans suffered a challenging 113-93 loss to the Orlando Magic on Thursday night, with the game slipping away early due to an explosive first-half performance by the Magic. Despite Zion Williamson’s team-leading 20 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, the Pelicans could not find an answer to Orlando’s scorching offensive rhythm.

Trey Murphy III added 17 points, but the Pelicans’ scoring struggles, particularly in the second quarter, proved too much to overcome. New Orleans managed only 15 points on 5-of-18 shooting in the period, falling behind by a daunting 30 points at halftime.

Defensively, the Pelicans were unable to contain Orlando’s dynamic forward duo of Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner. Banchero dominated with 34 points, 11 rebounds, and four steals, showcasing his scoring versatility and defensive tenacity.

Wagner contributed 27 points and six rebounds while shooting an efficient 11-for-17 from the field. Together, they orchestrated a historic first half, becoming the first Magic teammates to each score 20-plus points in the opening two quarters since 1996-97
