The New Orleans Pelicans are rumored to be making aggressive moves to climb the draft ladder, with sources indicating that Rutgers standout Ace Bailey is their primary target. Under the leadership of new GM Joe Dumars, the Pelicans are positioning themselves to secure one of the most exciting scoring talents in recent memory.
Bailey’s skill set, highlighted by his elite shot-making ability, a smooth shooting stroke, and advanced footwork, makes him a natural fit for the Pelicans’ future plans. At 6’9” with an impressive wingspan, Bailey has the physical tools to thrive in the NBA as both a dynamic offensive weapon and a potential high-level finisher.
Despite his undeniable talent, Bailey has areas for growth. Defensively, he’ll need to bulk up to handle the physicality of NBA wings, and improving his defensive awareness will be key to maximizing his potential.
Still, with a 17.6 points-per-game average, 7.2 rebounds, and a reliable midrange game, Bailey represents a gamble worth taking for a Pelicans franchise seeking a cornerstone talent. If Dumars and the front office succeed in moving up, Bailey could quickly become the centerpiece of their young core.
