Pelicans Trade Brandon Ingram to Raptors: A New Era Begins

By Rell Wright, Pelicans Contributor

The New Orleans Pelicans have officially parted ways with star forward Brandon Ingram, sending him to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk, and a pair of draft picks. Ingram, who has been sidelined since December with a left ankle injury, departs New Orleans as one of the most talented scorers in franchise history, averaging 23 points per game during his tenure.

While his injuries have hindered the Pelicans’ playoff aspirations, his offensive prowess made him a valuable trade asset ahead of free agency.

The trade signifies a turning point for New Orleans, as the team looks to rebuild around Zion Williamson and emerging talent Trey Murphy III. Bruce Brown and Kelly Olynyk bring veteran experience and depth, while the draft picks offer long-term potential.

The updated depth chart reflects these changes, with CJ McCollum and Zion Williamson anchoring the starting lineup. The Pelicans also made a minor move, trading Daniel Theis to the Thunder for cash considerations.
