Pels Stumble Against Pacers 119-104 as Offensive Struggles Persist

By Rell Wright, Pelicans Contributor

The New Orleans Pelicans found themselves outpaced by the Indiana Pacers in a 119-104 loss on Sunday, their fourth consecutive defeat and 13th in their last 14 games. Despite a spirited 20-point effort from Brandon Boston and solid contributions from Dejounte Murray (19 points, seven rebounds, seven assists) and Herbert Jones (19 points), the Pelicans couldn’t overcome their offensive inconsistencies.

A dismal 10-of-33 performance from beyond the arc and 18 costly turnovers undercut their efforts, especially during a second-quarter collapse where they scored just 14 points, leading to a 17-point halftime deficit. Injuries continue to plague the team, disrupting rhythm and chemistry that were hallmarks of their early-season promise.

From the Pelicans’ perspective, the turning point was Indiana’s suffocating defense and relentless perimeter shooting. Pascal Siakam‘s 22 points and Tyrese Haliburton’s dynamic double-double (21 points, 10 assists) anchored the Pacers’ attack, while their defensive presence—nine blocks, including four from Myles Turner—stifled New Orleans’ attempts to find offensive flow.

The Pelicans were left chasing Indiana’s lead, which swelled to 23 points in the third quarter. While the team continues to battle through injuries and a brutal stretch of games, a looming matchup with the Rockets on Thursday offers a chance to regroup and reignite their season before it slips further out of reach.
