Sergei Murashov will make his NHL debut as the Pittsburgh Penguins face the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday afternoon at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. According to Penguins team Michelle Crechiolo, Murashov couldn’t be happier. “It’s definitely something you dream about from your childhood,” the goalie said. In seven games with the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Murashov is 5-2-0 with a .931 save percentage (SV%) and 1.73 goals against average (GAA). In 23 career AHL games, the 21-year-old netminder has a 17-5-0 record with a 2.36 GAA and .918 SV%. He also spent a chunk of the 2024-25 season with the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers, going 17-7-1 with a 2.40 GAA and .922 SV%. Taken by the Penguins in the fourth round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, Murashov, a native of Yaroslavl, Russia, spent parts of five seasons in the MHL, Russia’s second-tier professional league.
