The Philadelphia Phillies have kicked off their midseason mission of adding bullpen pieces by adding veteran reliever David Robertson. The 40-year-old former World Series champion auditioned for teams on Sunday which was attended by several teams. Robertson now begins his third stint with the Phillies, but they need him now more than ever. The bullpen has been struggling all season long, as it is in the bottom 10 of the league in ERA, AVG and WHIP. They are also missing one of their standouts in Jose Alvarado, who was suspended for 80 games in May due to a failed PED test and will also not be eligible for the playoffs. The Phillies’ president of baseball operations, Dave Dombrowski, is someone who knows when to be aggressive for teams in a title window.
