Jack Catterall’s unanimous decision victory over Regis Prograis on Saturday may mark a decisive shift in the junior welterweight division. Catterall (30-1, 13 KOs) outmaneuvered Prograis (29-3, 24 KOs), landing powerful shots and scoring two critical knockdowns in the later rounds.

The judges scored it 117-108, 116-109, and 116-109, all in favor of Catterall, showcasing his dominance in the second half of the fight. Despite a rocky start and a few tense exchanges, Catterall’s precise punches and relentless determination overwhelmed Prograis, who appeared to lose stamina as the bout progressed.
Prograis acknowledged Catterall’s performance, showing sportsmanship in defeat by advocating for his opponent’s chance at a title shot. “Jack was the better man… he deserves a world title fight,” Prograis remarked post-fight. While Prograis has faced top contenders throughout his career, this loss raises questions about his future in the division.
For Catterall, this victory could be a launchpad toward a junior welterweight title opportunity, while Prograis must now weigh his options carefully as he nears the twilight of his career.
