Rams WR Puka Nacua doubles down on ref criticism immediately after OT loss to Seahawks

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua publicly called out NFL referees during an internet livestream earlier this week. Immediately after Thursday’s 38-37 overtime defeat to the Seattle Seahawks, Nacua doubled down.

Just minutes after Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold found tight end Eric Saubert for a two-point conversion to win the game, Nacua found his phone. He hit send on a tweet criticizing the officiating.

“Can you say I was wrong,” Nacua wrote in a since deleted X post. “Appreciate you stripes for your contribution. Lol.”

Nacua was likely referring to Seattle’s game-tying score late in the fourth quarter. A 26-yard touchdown reception from tight end AJ Barner made it a 30-28 game. The Seahawks needed a two-point conversion to tie, but Darnold’s pass tipped off the helmet of Rams edge rusher Jared Verse and fell incomplete.

But upon further review, it was determined that Darnold threw a backwards pass, meaning the play was still alive. Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet happened to pick the ball up in the end zone, so it was ruled a successful conversion.
