Copied!
Rashid Shaheed hasn’t played a snap in Seattle, but he’s already picking out china patterns for their long-term engagement.
“I’m here to stay, man. We can figure something out after the season ends,” the new Seahawks receiver said on Wednesday, via FOX13 Seattle.
Shaheed is an unrestricted free agent after the season, but following Tuesday’s trade from New Orleans, he’s planning on sticking around for more than the balance of 2025.
“Long-term, yes sir,” Shaheed said.
There are a lot of cards to be played before a long-term contract is dealt with, but Shaheed’s optimism for a new start in Seattle is warranted. This isn’t a significant other planning a wedding after one date. Shaheed has tangible experience in Klint Kubiak’s offense.

In six games before suffering a season-ending meniscus injury in New Orleans last year, Shaheed had 20 catches for 349 yards and three TDs in Kubiak’s offense. He was an explosive menace, catching bombs from Derek Carr as the Saints blasted out of the gate.
“Super glad to be connected back with him,” Shaheed said of his reunion with Kubiak, now Seattle’s offensive coordinator. “He’s familiar with me. He knows my strengths, and I know what his mindset is going into games. And you know, shouldn’t be too hard to get acclimated with him, just find my role in the offense.”
The Seattle offense, with Sam Darnold and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, is better than the one Shaheed shined in last year with Kubiak in New Orleans.
Shaheed averaged a career-high 58.2 receiving yards per game and 17.5 yards per reception in 2024.
“I feel like there’s a lot of wide-open opportunities (in the offense),” Shaheed said. “I would get into a lot of play action and stuff like that, so I could stretch the field vertically. I feel like I could bring that into this offense. Any type of explosiveness, I’m all here for it.”
