Ravens' Lamar Jackson (hamstring) ruled out vs. Rams, will miss second straight game

It will be another week without Lamar Jackson for the Baltimore Ravens.

Jackson has been ruled out for the Ravens’ game Sunday against the visiting Los Angeles Rams. It will be the second straight game Jackson has missed due to a hamstring injury.

Veteran Cooper Rush is expected to start again in place of Jackson.

John Harbaugh and the reeling Ravens, who have lost three in a row, have been noticeably tight-lipped regarding Jackson’s status, but prior to the quarterback being ruled out for Week 5, there were rumblings and reports that the two-time AP NFL Most Valuable Player would miss multiple weeks.

Now, that’s just what will happen, as Jackson will miss consecutive games ahead of the team’s bye week. Thus, the hope will be he’s good to go for Week 8’s home game against the Chicago Bears. Since 2019, Baltimore is 5-11 without Jackson, including last week’s 44-10 humbling against the Houston Texans.

In four games this season, Jackson has completed 71.6% of his passes for 869 yards, 10 touchdowns and just one interception. He’s also rushed for 166 yards and a touchdown, though the NFL’s all-time QB rushing leader is averaging a career-low 41.5 yards per game.

Baltimore has lost its last two games by an average of 25.5 points, so giving it a go without Jackson again hardly adds any optimism.

Rush, in his first start with Baltimore last week, was 14 of 20 for 179 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions.

The Ravens offense remains the sixth-ranked scoring offense, but has averaged just 15 points over the past two games and is 23rd for the season in yards. It has an arduous task ahead against the Rams, who boast the 10th-ranked defense in yards given up.

Baltimore (1-4) hosts the Rams (3-2) at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
