Ravens make desperation trade to shake up struggling defense

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh suggested on Monday that changes could be coming for his struggling team. On Tuesday, they did it in the form of a trade to shake up the team’s historically bad defense. And it required him to turn to the team coached by his brother, Jim Harbaugh, to make the change happen. The big change for the Ravens this week: Trading former first-round pick and EDGE Odafe Oweh, as well as a 2027 seventh-round pick, to the Chargers in exchange for safety Alohi Gilman and a 2026 fifth-round pick. Oweh was the Ravens’ first-round pick (No. 31 overall) in the 2021 NFL Draft and has had an up-and-down career with the Ravens. He arrived with a lot of expectation to add some spark to the Ravens’ pass-rush, but he never really produced consistent results.
