Copied!
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who has dealt with a host of injuries this season, did not return to Sunday night’s loss to the New England Patriots after suffering a back injury in the first half.
Jackson was replaced by backup Tyler Huntley, who finished 9 of 10 for 65 yards in relief.
Jackson was injured after a 3-yard run late in the second quarter during which it looked as though he might have taken a knee on the ground from a defender. He was in clear and obvious pain on the sideline before walking to the locker room. Head coach John Harbaugh said Jackson’s availability going forward is unknown, as he’s dealing with a bruised back.
“It’s a bruise of some kind, I think,” Harbaugh said. “I don’t know how serious it will be. We’ll have to find out in the next couple of days. He got kneed in the back.”
Jackson spoke to the media after the game and said he was in too much pain to continue, but his goal is to be back on Saturday in Week 17 against the Green Bay Packers. He’s scheduled for an MRI Monday.

Baltimore was trailing, 10-7, prior to Jackson’s exit. On the same drive in which Jackson was injured, the Ravens tied the game at 10, which stood as the halftime score.
The Ravens held a 24-13 lead after Derrick Henry scored his second TD of the game in the fourth quarter, but the Pats rallied with 15 consecutive points to stun Baltimore for the road win.
Jackson, who completed 7 of 10 passes for 101 yards and ran twice for 7 yards, missed three games earlier this season due to a hamstring injury. Since his return, Jackson has missed practices with ankle, toe and knee injuries, along with an illness.
The Ravens (7-8) face the Packers (9-5-1) next Saturday in a must-win game to keep their postseason hopes alive.
