Boston Red Sox outfielder Wilyer Abreu is best known for his defense. On Monday, he carved his way into major league history with his bat. Abreu led off the bottom of the fifth by belting a fly ball deep into the center field corner. The ball hit the top of the wall, bounding past outfielder TJ Friedl, who had fallen down. Abreu raced around the bases, sliding into home with an inside-the-park home run to give the Red Sox an 8-4 lead against the Cincinnati Reds. Former outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury was the last Red Sox player to hit an inside-the-park homer at Fenway, doing so in 2011.
