The New York Jets traded star DT Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys Tuesday, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Dallas sent a first round pick “and more” to New York, per the report.
Rapoport later clarified that Dallas was sending its own first-round pick to the Jets, rather than the one they acquired from the Green Packers. That was due to the Micah Parsons trade.
Williams was in the middle of his seventh season with the Jets and logged 32 tackles, seven tackles for loss and one sack in eight games this year. In total, Williams has 40 sacks, 59 tackles for loss and 322 total tackles, playing his entire career with New York.
The Jets drafted Williams with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Alabama. While Williams has been named First-Team All-Pro (2022) and a three-time Pro Bowler, he was a stud in college too.
He helped the Crimson Tide win the national title in 2017 and won the Outland and Bill Willis Trophy in 2018. But, he was not the first big name to leave the Jets Tuesday.
