The Dallas Cowboys were potentially looking at getting back cornerback Trevon Diggs for an important stretch to close out the season. Instead, tension between the two has potentially ended Diggs’ time with Dallas.
According to Jordan Schultz, the relationship between Diggs and the Cowboys has “been severed” during his time out with an injury. Diggs will not play on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings despite appearing to be healthy enough.
“Sources: #Cowboys All-Pro CB Trevon Diggs will not play Sunday vs the Vikings,” Schultz said via X. “This comes after what was described to me as a ‘great week of practice,’ while multiple sources tell me the relationship between Diggs and the organization has ‘soured’ and ‘been severed.’ Diggs, who last played Week 6 and has already been activated from IR, told reporters this week that he was ‘ready.’”
Diggs has appeared in six games this season for the Cowboys, not taking the field since Oct. 12’s loss to the Carolina Panthers. This is the third season in a row an injury has led to an extended period on the sideline for him. Knee issues in 2023 and 2024 were the main issue.
Dallas has four games remaining in the regular season. If things go their way, a run in the playoffs will take place as well. Maybe we have seen the last of Diggs in a Cowboys uniform, bringing an interesting offseason into the spotlight.
