Ryan Garcia Faces Severe Backlash After Racist Tirade

By Arthur Rooks Boxing Contributor

Ryan Garcia, a 25-year-old boxer currently suspended for PED usage, has come under intense scrutiny after making a series of racist comments during a Twitter Space. Garcia used the n-word multiple times, likened himself to the Ku Klux Klan, and made derogatory remarks about George Floyd, whose 2020 death sparked global protests. Additionally, he made anti-Muslim comments.

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman swiftly responded, announcing Garcia’s expulsion from all WBC activities, citing the organization’s zero-tolerance policy for discrimination. “I fear for Ryan’s well-being as he has declined multiple attempts for our help with mental health and substance abuse,” Sulaiman stated.

In response, Garcia claimed he was “trolling” and expressed a desire for an end to violence, though his sincerity was questionable. His controversial remarks and erratic behavior have only added to his troubled image, compounded by his recent arrest for felony vandalism at the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills, causing $15,000 in property damage.

The NYSAC also fined him $10,000 for his actions. Garcia’s public implosion highlights a critical juncture in his career, as he faces both legal and professional repercussions for his conduct.
