Saints Announce Signings of Two Veteran Linemen
By Niles Carpenter, Saints Contributor
The New Orleans Saints have bolstered their line-up with the addition of two seasoned linemen, as announced by Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis. The Saints have signed offensive lineman Lucas Patrick and defensive tackle Kendal Vickers to one-year contracts, while also waiving nose tackle John Penisini. Patrick, standing at 6-3 and weighing 313 pounds, is a seven-year NFL veteran who began his career with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent from Duke in 2016.
Throughout his career, he has demonstrated versatility by appearing in 96 regular season games with 54 starts at both guard positions and center, playing for the Packers (2017-21) and the Chicago Bears (2022-23). In 2023, Patrick showcased his skills as a reliable starter at center for the Bears, starting in 15 of the 16 games he played.
"It's been really fun. It's been really rewarding to work with really good people."

Kendal Vickers, measuring 6-3 and 295 pounds, brings three years of NFL experience to the Saints. Initially signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent from Tennessee in 2018, Vickers joins New Orleans after a successful tryout during the team’s rookie minicamp. Throughout his career, he has participated in 26 games with two starts, contributing 22 tackles (ten solo) and two sacks for the Las Vegas Raiders (2020-22) and the Buffalo Bills (2023). Vickers’ addition aims to strengthen the Saints’ defensive front, complementing an already robust roster as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
