The New Orleans Saints are gearing up for an exciting training camp as they recently announced the signings of three seasoned veterans to strengthen their roster. Among the signings is tight end Jimmy Graham, who returns to New Orleans after a hiatus. At 36 years old, Graham may face tough competition for a spot on the team with a stacked tight end corps, including Juwan Johnson, Foster Moreau, and Taysom Hill. Despite his absence from NFL action in 2021, Graham’s impressive track record with the Saints during his five seasons, playing alongside Drew Brees, has fans hopeful for a resurgence of his former glory. During this period, Graham amassed 4,752 yards on 386 catches with 51 touchdowns, earning three Pro Bowl selections and a first-team All-Pro nod.
In addition to Graham, the Saints have also secured the services of veteran guard Trai Turner. After a pre-training camp tryout, the terms of Turner’s one-year contract remain undisclosed. Turner, who has previously played for the Washington Commanders and Pittsburgh Steelers, brings valuable experience and skill to the team’s offensive line. Competing for the top backup spot, he will be up against third-year pro Calvin Throckmorton and rookie fourth-round pick Nick Saldiveri, along with other talented reserves.
Furthermore, the Saints have added depth to their offensive line with the signing of former Arizona Cardinals lineman, Max Garcia. Drafted by the Denver Broncos in the fourth round in 2015, Garcia was part of the Super Bowl 50-winning team, showcasing his ability to contribute in a rotational role. Now, in New Orleans, Garcia will have an opportunity to showcase his versatility and provide crucial support to the team’s offensive front.
With these three veteran signings, the New Orleans Saints are sending a clear message of their commitment to assembling a competitive and experienced roster. The return of Jimmy Graham to the city where he enjoyed immense success has stirred excitement among fans, while Trai Turner and Max Garcia’s additions bring depth and expertise to vital positions. As training camp arrives, the Saints’ coaching staff will undoubtedly have their hands full evaluating the talent at their disposal and selecting the best lineup for the upcoming season. With a blend of seasoned veterans and promising young players, the Saints are primed to make a strong impact in the league once again.
