Dowell, a three-year NFL veteran, has been with the Saints since 2019 after initially joining the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan State. Known for his impact on special teams, Dowell has played in 34 games, accumulating 21 special teams tackles, two forced fumbles, and one defensive stop. His experience and versatility are expected to enhance the Saints’ defensive depth, particularly in special teams formations.
Alongside Dowell, the Saints also added Camron Peterson, a promising defensive tackle who brings size and strength to the defensive line. In conjunction with these signings, the Saints waived defensive back Kaleb Ford-Dement and waived/injured defensive end Trajan Jeffcoat, signaling a focused effort to optimize their defensive unit. These roster changes reflect the team’s commitment to balancing experience with potential as they head into a highly competitive season.
